Moody Helps Power Bears To CACC Split With Post Eagles At Clarks Pond

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears softball team picked up a split at home on Friday afternoon against Post University. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double dip was rescheduled from Thursday because of inclement weather and left Bloomfield with a 10-15 overall record and 7-3 in league games.

The home team took Game 1 by a score of, 5-2, powered by Jocelyn Moody belting her third homerun of the season in the 4th inning. Moody's blast evened the game at 2-2 and was followed by a single through the left side by Naya Olacio that drove in Danielle Walters to put the Bears in-front for good. Sierra Albritton came home on a passed ball in the 5th to give the home squad a 4-2 advantage and then Moody concluded the scoring efforts with a single up the middle that plated Anna Wilson who reached on a single to center field.

Moody (3-4) also got the nod in the circle and pitched a complete game for her Bloomfield win, scattering two runs on four hits and struck out four Eagles' batters. The Bears offense managed 9 hits, led by Albritton, Moody and Olacio who each went 2-for-3.

In Game 2, Post (4-20, 1-7 CACC) scored first yet again and this time held on for a, 7-2 decision and their first win in conference play. The visitors put up three runs on Walters who got the second game start and gave up four hits while striking out four and walking two. Albritton went a perfect 3-for-3 in Game 2 and stole 3 bases to bring her team-leading season total to 16. For the day, Albritton went 5-for-6 with 2 runs and four stolen bases.

Bloomfield will host a non-conference battle in their next test as The College of Staten Island visit Clarks Pond South on Sunday. The regional doubleheader with the Dolphins is set for 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
