STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The men's basketball team took NCAA Division I, Wagner College to overtime before the Seahawks came out on top, 95-93. The thrilling Thursday night Exhibition game saw freshman
Cameron McRae pour in 36 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the field.
Devin Artis had a solid offensive performance, dropping 15 points in 27 minutes of play while seniors
Zamorian Singleton and
Marcus Bucknall each contributed 12 points.
Regan Burke garnished a double-double in his starting role, knocking in 10 points and grabbing 10 boards for Bloomfield.
The visiting Bears were up, 24-17 at the halfway mark of the first half. Bloomfield led for 61.2 percent of the opening period and took a 48-42 lead into the locker room after Burke nailed a jumper at the buzzer. McRae had 22 points at the break on 8-0f-13 shooting that included 5-for-9 from beyond the arc.
Wagner clawed their way back in the first five minutes of the 2
nd, taking a, 58-57 led after a ball from deep. The teams would end regulation knotted at 85-85 with the Spiro Sports Center rocking from the hotly contested match-up.
The Bears scored the first 6 points of overtime to go up, 91-85 but Wagner came storming back to close out the game with a, 10-2 run. Despite the stats not counting towards the season totals, McRae went 8-for-15 from 3-point range and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
