Martinez Double-Double Not Enough In Double OT As Bears Drop, 88-85 Battle to Spartans

SPARKHILL, NY – It took double-overtime to decide a winner in Aquinas Hall on New Year's Eve but the Bloomfield College women's basketball team came out on the wrong side of an, 88-85 decision against the Spartans. The Bears suffered their second-straight setback and moved their overall record to, 7-4 to close out 2025.
 
Bloomfield saw a career-high afternoon from Nia Mallette who exploded for 34 points on 12-of-26 shooting from the field. Mallette came off the bench to record her 6th double-double of the year as she corralled 11 boards. Anisha Able continued her dominant play, registering her eighth-straight double-double with a team-high, 14 boards to go along with 18 points.
 
Bianca Ellis went for 17 points in forty-four minutes of work and Mia Martinez added career-highs in rebounds (11) and assists (10) for her first double-double in a Bears uniform.

The Bears will celebrate the New Year at home with family before returning to the friendly confines of The Den on Saturday, January 3rd. Bloomfield will host Villa Maria College for the first time in program history as the start 2026 with an 11:00 am tip-off.
