PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Bears softball team hit the road Saturday afternoon to open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play and were swept in a doubleheader against Chestnut Hill College. The Griffins took Game 1, 8-5 and then shutout the Bears in Game 2, 3-0.
Chestnut Hill improved to 9-8 overall and 2-0 in league games while Bloomfield remains winless at, 0-17 and 0-2 in conference matches.
Jillian Holmes (0-2) got he start in Game 1 and gave up three runs on six hits across two innings of work before
Kate Juskiewicz came on in relief and surrendered five runs on eight hits across the last four innings. Senior,
Daniela Vidal, had a strong showing at the plate in the opening game going 2-for-4 with three runs. Newcomer,
Jadenalia Rodriguez also went 2-for-4 while driving in three runs. Holmes went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Juskiewicz registered 2 RBI after going 2-for-3 from the plate. The Bears recorded 10 hits in Game 1 including 2 doubles.
In Game 2 the visitors had four hits but couldn't drive in a run as sophomore,
Rayn Romero (0-9) got the start in the circle and pitched a complete game, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out three and walking only one batter.
Next up the Bears face another CACC opponent on Wednesday, March 19 when they travel to the University of Bridgeport for 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm doubleheader.
