NEWARK, NJ - The Bears baseball team played their home opener at newly renovated Vailsburg Park on Saturday and dropped two games to Georgian Court University (GCU) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. Bloomfield fell to 0-13 overall after the doubleheader and 0-4 in league play while the Lions improved to 3-13 on the season with a 2-6 mark in conference games.
GAMEÂ 1 - GCU 13, BLOOMFIELD 3 - 7 Innings
The Lions offense scored 13 runs on 14 hits with seven extra-base hits and three homeruns. The Bears recorded three runs on five hits.

GAME 2 - GEORGIAN COURT 22, BLOOMFIELD 4
The visitors scored 22 runs on 12 hits while Bloomfield committed three errors, walked 13 and threw 10 wild pitches. Georgian Court also walked nine batters in total, but struck out 13.Â

The Bears series with the Lions that was slated to conclude tomorrow (Sunday, March 23) has been postponed with a make-up date to be determined. Bloomfield will hit the road for a non-conference battle on Wednesday against the College of Staten Island slated for a 3:30 pm first pitch.
