The Bears Shutout At Home Against Goldey-Beacom In CACC Softball Action

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears softball team hosted Goldey-Beacom at Clarks Pond South on Saturday and were shut out in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader, 5-0 and 4-0. 

The Lightning improved to 17-8 overall and 3-3 in league contests while Bloomfield moved to 0-21 and 0-6 in conference play.
 
Rayn Romero (0-11) got the start in the circle in Game 1 and went two innings giving up four runs on seven hits. On the offensive side the Bears scattered four hits highlighted by a double by Jadenalia Rodriguez. 
 
In Game 2 Kate Juskiewicz (0-7) got the start and went four and-a third, surrendering four runs, only three earned, on seven hits and one strikeout. Romero came on in relief and gave up three hits, a walk and a strikeout across the final two and two-thirds. Freshman Islynn Lugo broke up Goldey-Beacom's Morgan McLane no-hitter in the bottom of the sixth as the opposing pitcher recorded 17 strikeouts in the game.

Next up the Bears face another CACC opponent on Tuesday, March 25 when they welcome Dominican University for a 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm doubleheader.
