WILMINGTON, DEL – The Bears baseball team suffered a setback Thursday whey they lost two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games on the road to Goldey-Beacom College (GBC). The Lightning captured Game 1 by a score of 12-0 in 7 innings and then tacked on a 27-3 victory in Game 2.
The Bloomfield fell to 0-26 overall and 0-16 in conference play while GBC improved to 27-9 on the season with a 17-3 mark in league games.
Josue Cueto picked up the loss in Game 1 and went to 0-3 for the year.
Shawn Jackson Jr. picked up the only hit of the game for the Bears as the GBC pitching staff struckout 11 batters and only walked 2 during the shutout.
In Game 2 the Lightning arms struckout 13 batters while walking three but Bloomfield pushed across three runs on four hits powered by a 2 RBI triple down the right-field line by
Elder Maldonado.
Andres Varas went two-and-a-third giving up five runs on four hits and walked three.
