NORTH WALES, PA. – The Bears suffered two setbacks during a doubleheader on the road against Chestnut Hill College (CHC) on Wednesday afternoon. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double dip pushed the Griffins overall mark to 24-17 on the year with a 19-11 record in league games. Bloomfield slipped to 0-38 for the season and 0-28 in conference play.
The home team needed only 7 innings in Game 1 as Chestnut Hill soared to a, 22-1 win after lodging 14 hits and taking advantage of three Bears' errors. The visitors lone run came off the bat of
Franny Medina who blasted a homer over the centerfield wall in the bottom of the 6
th.
Game 2 saw Bloomfield jump ahead yet again early in a CACC contest when they put up four runs in the 1
st.
Frank Scerra doubled to right center to drive in two runs and later came around to score a run of a
Charles Anderson ground-rule double. The Bears were up 4-0 after a CHC fielding error but hat advantage was short-lived as the home team answered with five runs in the bottom half of the first and never looked back taking a, 17-7 victory to complete the sweep.
NEXT UP
Bloomfield will play a four-game series on the road against Bridgeport University. The first doubleheader of the series is set for Friday, April 25th and the second set of games slated for Sunday, April 27
th. Friday's games begin at noon at Seaside Park.
