BUFFALO, NY -- The USCAA announced its All-American and individual End of the Year award winners for Women's and Men's Basketball at a ceremony held at the Buffalo RiverWorks on Monday evening.
Anisha Able and
Nia Mallette of the Bloomfield College women's basketball team were named as First Team All-Americans in the USCAA. Mallette was also named the USCAA Division I National Player of the Year.
Able led the Nation in rebounding with 13.4 rpg. She was 2nd on the Bears team in scoring at 17.8 ppg, good enough for 10th in the nation. She ranked 2nd in the USCAA in block shots (31) and 4th in the nation in field goal percentage (54.5 %). Anisha recorded 17 straight double-doubles to close out the season and scored 20 or more points in 8 contests this year.
Mallette led the team in scoring and was ranked 2nd in the nation, averaging 22.2 ppg. She was 4th in the nation in both 3-pt shooting percentage at 35.8 percent and free-throw shooting percentage at 80.0 percent. She was also 4th in the nation in total assists with 95 and 5th in the USCAA in total steals with 71. Nia averaged a double-double for the season grabbing 11.4 rpg, good enough for 5th in the nation. Mallette recorded three triple-doubles this season.
