BUFFALO, NY -- The USCAA announced its All-American and individual End of the Year award winners for Women's and Men's Basketball at a ceremony held at the Buffalo RiverWorks on Monday evening.
Zamorian Singleton and
Cameron McRae of the Bloomfield College men's basketball team were named as First Team All-Americans while
Marcus Bucknall was named a 2nd Team All-American. Singleton was also named the USCAA Division I National Player of the Year and Student Athlete of the Year. Head Coach
Gerald Holmes and his assistants,
Gage Daye,
Jason Holmes and
Joe Neals were awarded the Coaching Staff of the Year Award.
Singleton started all 23 games he played in for the Bears and led the team in scoring with 19.7 ppg and ranked 8th in the nation. He shot over 50.0 percent from the field while averaging 8.8 rebounds per game. He shot 78.9 percent from the free-throw line for the season. While leading the Bears on the court Singleton also maintained a 3.346 GPA. He created Motivation4theyouth, a non-profit organization formed in 2022 to help mentor and guide kids who may not have the proper guidance at home or even in their communities to help them achieve their goals. Zamorian's organization sponsored 2 back-to-school hair cut drives. He had talked to youth at multiple elementary schools within the Newark, NJ area such as Cleveland Elementary & also Quitman Street elementary school.
McRae was 2nd on the Bears in scoring, averaging 17.8 ppg as a freshman and played in all 24 games this season having started in 19 of them. As a freshman he ranked 3rd in the nation in assists at 4.4 apg and 15th in the nation in scoring. He was also among the nation's leaders in steals averaging 1.5 spg, good enough for 21st in the USCAA.
Bucknall played in 21 of the Bears 24 games this season and started in all 21 he stepped on the court for. He led the team in rebounding with 9.5 rpg and ranked 6th in the nation. He was third on the team in scoring, putting up 14.6 ppg and shot 34.7 percent from three-point range.
Holmes and his staff in their first season in the USCAA guided the program to an 18-6 overall record and 13-3 in conference play. The program was ranked #1 in the USCAA National Poll heading into postseason play. The Bears captured the NACIA Tournament Championship and the conference's automatic bid to the USCAA National Tournament.
