BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Bloomfield Bears softball team extended their winning streak to 14 games on Friday afternoon, collecting a doubleheader sweep against Camden County College at Clark's Pond South. On a clear and cool spring day, the Bears displayed the same relentless energy that defined their recent road stretch, securing back-to-back 13-run performances with a 13-2 victory in the opener and a 13-5 finish in the nightcap.
In the first contest, Bloomfield set the tone early, answering a first-inning Camden run with two of their own before breaking the game wide open with an eight-run explosion in the third.
Jaida Hastings was stellar in the circle, tossing four innings, allowing only two runs on three hits while striking out two. The offense was led by Angelina Eckhardt,
Kate Juskiewicz and
Kelly Varela, who combined for six hits and nine RBIs.
The nightcap featured even more power from the home side. After falling behind 3-0 in the top of the first, the Bears responded immediately with seven unanswered runs across the next two innings.
Kate Juskiewicz anchored the defense in the circle and helped her own cause at the plate with a triple, while
Edith Luciano and
Isabella Lopez provided critical RBI knocks to ensure the five-inning sweep.
With the victories, Bloomfield improves to 15-7 on the season and continues to climb the USCAA rankings as one of the hottest teams in the region.
