Bears Softball Secure Doubleheader Sweep On The Road Over Penn State Scranton

DUNMORE, Pa. – The Bloomfield Bears softball team continued their dominant road stretch on Monday afternoon, securing a pair of victories over Penn State Scranton. Behind powerful early-inning surges and a lockdown performance in the circle, the Bloomfield improved to 13-7 on the season with a, 10-1 win in Game 1 and 17-5 decision in Game 2.

In the opening contest, Bloomfield wasted no time making their presence felt, hanging six runs on the board in the first before adding four more in the second to seal the 10-1 five-inning victory. Kate Juskiewicz was the story in the circle, tossing a complete-game while surrendering just one hit and striking out six.

The momentum carried directly into the second game of the double-dip, where the Bears' bats reached a fever pitch. After a two-run first, Bloomfield exploded for 11 runs in the second inning to effectively put the game out of reach. Jaida Hastings earned the win, while the offense pounded out 15 hits—including four doubles and a triple from Edith Luciano—to secure the sweep in five innings via the run rule.

The twin-bill sweep marks a significant high point for the Bears as they push their USCAA era program record win-streak to twelve games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Shutout Dominance: Kate Juskiewicz was nearly perfect in the opener, allowing only one hit and one run over five innings while racking up 6 strikeouts.
  • Second Inning Surge: The Bears' offense was lethal in Game 2, erupting for 11 runs in the top of the second to take total control.
  • Power at the Plate: Edith Luciano provided the biggest swing of the day with a triple in the second inning of Game 1.
  • Efficient Offense: Bloomfield combined for 23 hits across the doubleheader, including four doubles and a triple.
  • Road Warriors: With the two victories, the Bears move to six games over .500 (13-7) as they went a perfect, 6-0 on their six-game road trip.

UP NEXT
