Bloomfield College

About Fernandez:  A five-tool player who impacted the game on both sides of the ball, Emilio concluded his decorated four-year career as a member of the Bloomfield College baseball program in 2012.

As a senior:  Played in all 43 games for the Deacons in 2012, totaling 163 at-bats to finish tied for the team lead...Led Bloomfield and finished sixth in the CACC with 61 hits...Finished second in the CACC and tops on the Deacons with a .376 batting average...Placed fourth in the league in stolen bases with 32...Finished 11th in the league in both home runs (2) and doubles (10)...Finished seventh in the CACC in total bases (83) and eighth in on-base percentage (.437)...Placed third in the CACC in runs scored (42)...Totaled five outfield assists with just a single error in right field to post a .989 fielding percentage (tenth in the CACC)...Emilio's tremendous senior season saw the outfielder earn numerous postseason accolades, including First Team All-CACC and Second Team NCBWA All-East Region selections...Also received a Second Team All-East Region Rawlings Gold Glove Award, and Third Team NJCBA All-State nod following the 2012 campaign.

As a junior:  Played in 34 games with 34 starts...Totaled 26 hits, good for fourth on the 2011 club...Led the team with eight doubles, and finished tied for the team lead with two home runs...Finished tied for the team lead with eight stolen bases in 10 attempts.

As a sophomore:  Played in 40 games with 39 starts...Hit .276 in 152 at-bats, compiling 42 hits...Added a pair of homers to lead the team and drove in 12 runs, his .395 slugging percentage tops among Bloomfield regulars...Emilio’s outstanding sophomore season earned him a second team All-CACC selection.

As a freshman: Played in 40 games with 40 starts for the Deacons, hitting .263...Led the club in stolen bases, finishing with 16 swipes in 18 attempts, and finished second on the team in Runs Batted In with 31...Smacked four doubles, and led the team in triples with three...Notched his first career home run, a Grand Slam against CACC rival Chestnut Hill...Finished fifth on the team in total bases with 55. 

Before Bloomfield:  Emilio starred for four years at the Sports Business Academy during his high school career before joining the Bloomfield College program in 2008.

Why Emilio chose Division II:  “I chose to attend Bloomfield College because I felt that the small college environment would give me the chance to gain every bit of knowledge possible.  I also knew that the coaching staff here was a great fit for me.  It was obvious that they were committed to helping me improve as a player, so I would be able to compete at a high level of baseball.”
