About Ruiz:  An outstanding outfielder with tremendous baseball instincts, Alberto became one of the premier hitters in the CACC since joining the Deacons as a sophomore in 2009.  His outstanding junior campaign earned the senior a second team All-CACC selection in 2010. 

As a senior:  Played in 38 games with 38 starts, posting a .282 batting average to place him second on the 2011 Deacons...Finished tied for the team lead in hits with 37 while leading the club in on-base percentage at .367...His seven doubles and 15 RBI placed him second on the team in each category.

As a junior:  Played in 44 games with 44 starts...Totaled 51 hits, 10 doubles and a .402 on-base percentage, all tops on the 2010 Deacons...His 61 total bases also led the squad...Also a stellar defender, Alberto’s .987 fielding percentage was tops among Deacons outfielders.     

As a sophomore:  Played in 44 games with 44 starts, posting a .325 batting average and 52 hits, good for second on the squad...Finished fourth on the Deacons with 29 Runs Batted In, slugging .431 with a .397 on-base percentage...His breakout series came in the Deacons’ matchup aganist Dominican College, when he torched the Chargers for seven hits in 10 at-bats over the three-game stretch. 

As a freshman (MCC):  Batted leadoff, starting 36 games and leading the club in RBIs with 32...Hit 11 doubles while swiping 11 bases...Was a First Team All-Conference selection, as well as a Second Team All-Region honoree.   

Why Alberto chose Division II:  “I chose to attend Bloomfield College because it gave me the opportunity to play baseball at a high level while also furthering my education.”

Coach Watson on Ruiz:  “Alberto was a tremendous player for us since arriving as a sophomore.  He was a pure hitter who can hit to all fields, and his high baseball I.Q. is something that cannot be taught.  We wish him all the best in his future."
