Biography
About Buron: A middle-of-the-order hitter with power to all fields, Buron became the Deacons' best offensive player as a junior in 2011, earning Second Team All-CACC honors at Designated Hitter in his first year at Bloomfield. A transfer from Bergen Community College, Buron has quickly become one of the emotional leaders of the Deacons, and will assume a spot in the middle of the order in 2012.
As a junior: Played in 34 games with 32 starts...Led the Deacons with in batting average, (.297), RBIs (20) and slugging percentage (.381)...Finished second on the team in hits (35), total bases (45) and on-base percentage (.364), and finished tied for the team lead in home runs with two...Stole three bases in four attempts.
Why Luis chose Division II: “I chose Bloomfield because it is close to my home, and the baseball team seems to be a great program with a lot of opportunities.”
Coach Watson on Buron: “Luis has made a huge impact since arriving here last year. He's an accomplished college hitter, and he proved that last year with an outstanding season. He's become a tremendous leader for us, and we're expecting him to conclude his two-year career here with another tremendous offensive season."
