Biography
About Cruz: A crafty left-handed pitcher, Edwin served as the primary left-handed pitcher out of the bullpen for Bloomfield during the 2010, and 2011 seasons. Possessing an outstanding changeup, Edwin was one the top lefty relievers in the CACC throughout his collegiate career.
As a junior: Made 14 appearances on the mound for the Deacons in 2011, totaling 19 innings pitched and earning his first collegiate save...Posted a 2.37 ERA, the lowest of any Bloomfield pitcher was at least 15 innings pitched...Surrendered just five earned runs, and held opponents to a .276 batting average while walking just nine hitters.
As a sophomore: Appeared in 17 games for the Deacons in relief, totaling 21.2 innings pitched...Held opponents to a .256 batting average, while striking out 18 hitters...Walked just three hitters, and was the primary left-handed reliever out of the bullpen for Bloomfield in 2010.
As a freshman: Appeared in five games as a pitcher and five games as a position player for the Deacons in 2009...Struck out six batters in 4.1 innings pitched, and scored two runs as an outfielder.
Why Edwin chose Division II: "I chose to come to Bloomfield College because I felt it was a place where I could succeed as a student and as a baseball player."
