Bloomfield College

About Mendoza:  An imposing right-hander with a fastball that reached the low-90s, Luis enjoyed a stellar two-year career at Bloomfield, finishing his tenure as a senior during the 2012 season.

As a senior:  Appeared in 10 games on the mound with 10 starts in 2012...Finished second on the Deacons in innings pitched (66.1), pitching to a 4.31 ERA...Averaged 6.34 strikeouts per nine innings, good for second on the club...Surrendered just 32 earned runs, striking out 47 hitters...Tossed three complete games in 2012, pitching to a 4-4 record.

As a junior:  Appeared in 11 games on the mound for Bloomfield, with eight starts...Posted a 4-3 record with a 4.01 ERA, good for second on the 2011 staff among starting pitchers...His four victories led the team...Struck out 51 hitters in 49.1 innings pitched, the top mark on the club...Held opponents to a .223 batting average...CACC Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 7, 2011.

Before Bloomfield:  Luis starred as the ace of Bronx Community College for two seasons before arriving at Bloomfield College prior to the 2011 season.
