Biography
About Rivera: A speedy infielder/pitcher, Allen returns to the Deacons for his sophomore season after a solid freshman campaign. With a strong throwing arm and good speed on the basepaths, Bloomfield expects Allen to take another significant step forward on the field in 2012.
As a freshman: Played in 20 games with 17 starts in 2011...Hit .207 in 58 at-bats, seeing time at both second and third base as well as on the mound...Totaled one double and drove in a pair of runs, while posting a 1.80 ERA in five innings pitched...Struck out five hitters, and held opponents to a .059 batting average.
Why Allen chose Division II: “I chose Bloomfield College simply because I believe this school has a lot to offer both academically and athletically.”
Coach Watson on Rivera: “Allen played very well for us last year during the second half of the season, and I'm expecting him to play an even bigger role for us this year. He has a live arm, and can do a lot of different things on the field."
