Biography
About Ricci: A talented right-handed pitcher, Dave was a major contributor out of the bullpen throughout his four years at Bloomfield. A strong leader on and off the field, his intangibles made him an indispensable part of the Deacons over his college career.
As a senior: Appeared in 12 games on the mound for Bloomfield in 2011, totaling 13 innings pitched...Posted a 6.23 ERA, allowing 12 hits and striking out eight...Went 1-1 with a save on the season.
As a junior: Appeared in 11 games out of the bullpen for Bloomfield, holding opponents to a .193 batting average in 20.2 innings pitched...Struck out 10 hitters while walking just four, yielding just six earned runs and posting a 2.61 ERA, the lowest of any Bloomfield pitcher with over 20 innings pitched.
As a sophomore: Appeared in seven games, striking out four hitters in 8.1 innings.
As a freshman: Made 15 appearances on the hill, including three starts...Pitched 22 innings, striking out 14 hitters while walking 11.
Why Dave chose Division II: “I wanted to better myself, and I knew Bloomfield College would provide me that opportunity. I enjoy the academic challenge of the school, and the competition of the CACC.”
Coach Watson on Ricci: “Dave had a great career out of the bullpen for us, but his leadership qualities were what made him a truly special player. He is the ultimate team player, and he will be greatly missed."
