Bloomfield College

About Medina:   A transfer from Monroe Junior College and an All-Region selection as a sophomore, Rafael enjoyed a decorated two-year career as a member of the Bloomfield College baseball program, seeing his tenure with the team come to an end after his senior season in 2012. 

As a senior:  Appeared in all 43 games for the Deacons in 2012, totaling 153 at-bats...Finished third on the Deacons with 46 hits, and placed second on the club in batting average at .301...Led the CACC with seven home runs, a career high...Finished third in the CACC and led the Deacons with 41 RBIs...Finished eighth in the CACC in total bases (81)...Placed fourth in the league in slugging percentage (.529) and fifth in doubles (14)...Medina's banner senior campaign earned him a First Team All-CACC, and Second Team NCBWA All-East Region selection...Also earned Second Team NJCBA All-State, and Second Team All-East Region Gold Glove honors following the 2012 season.

As a junior:  Played in all 39 games for Bloomfield in 2011, with 39 starts...Finished third on the team with a .264 batting average, and finished tied for the team lead with 37 hits...Drove in 15 runs, good for second on the club, and finished tops on the 2011 Deacons with 51 total bases...Finished third on the club with a .351 on-base percentage...Totaled seven doubles, two triples and a home run.

Before Bloomfield:  Rafael starred as a first baseman at Monroe College before joining the Bloomfield College program in 2011, earning a first team All-Region selection during his junior college career.

Why Rafael chose Division II:  “I chose Division II because I felt that Bloomfield provided me with a great opportunity to show what I can do as a baseball player, and be able to grow as a player and as a student.”
