Ishmael Martinez enters his 5th year as Head Coach of E-Sports at Bloomfield College of Montclair University going into the 2025-2026 season.
Ishmael's E-Sports experience stems from a background in League of Legends and Street Fighter beginning in 2010 where he competed locally.
Coming off the 24'-25' seasons Ishmael led the Super Smash Bros Ultimate team in back to back Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Fall and Spring victories. The team also captured back to back 3rd place finishes in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Bloomfield currently competes in three E-Sports game titles, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, NBA 2K25, and the recently added Tekken 8. The program is looking to add more titles in the future.
Ishmael has also spent time working in the Sports Information Department at Bloomfield College, aiding with live game statistics, photography, social media management, writing of E-Spotrs game stories, and overall training of student workers in statistical data entry.
He earned his bachelor's degree in Communications from Bloomfield College in May 2024.
