Shelton Colwell

Shelton Colwell returns to the sidelines for the 2022-2023 season in his sixth year as an assistant under head coach, Gerald Holmes. Colwell helped the team reach the NCAA Div II East Regional finals (Sweet 16) in first season as an assistant coach and the CACC Tournament Championship game in his second. 

Prior to coaching at Bloomfield College, Colwell traveled and played professional basketball since 2004. He began his professional career in Holland and has played in 10 countries over a twelve-year period; countries which included: Spain, Israel, Austria, Japan and Holland at the height of his career.  Colwell won 3 championships over his professional career and retired in 2015. 

Colwell played two years at Des Moines Area Community College in Iowa, where he was a 2x All-American, leading the Bears to a 60-10 record in those two seasons. Colwell then transferred to Missouri State University where he was 2-year starter for the Bears.
