Hugh McCarthy has over 20 years of coaching experience, which includes his three years at Bloomfield College as an assistant coach for Peter-John Falloon. McCarthy joined the Bloomfield staff after serving 3 seasons an assistant coach at Union County College (UCC), in Union, N.J.

As an assistant for the Bears, Hugh has helped the team to win their first ever Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Soccer Championship in 2015. 

McCarthy played an integral role in the team’s success, as along with his wisdom and vast coaching experience, he also brought his knowledge of player development to the Bears.

At a young age, Coach Hugh was recognized as the Most Outstanding Youth Player while playing for Cavalier SC. He has represented his country, Jamaica at the under-20 level and also at the senior level.

McCarthy served as the head coach of August Town FC, Kingston, Jamaica, he was the assistant coach for the Jamaica under 20 team. He was also the Technical Director at Arnette Garden FC. At Union County College, Coach Hugh helped the team to a NJCAA Conference Championship, District Championship and Regional Championship. He was recognized as part of the NJCAA Coaching Staff of the Year (2007) for the role he played at UCC.
