Biography

About Blackman: One of the emotional leaders of the Deacons, Darnelle anchored Bloomfield's last line of defense for two seasons, helping the team earn its first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2010.

As a senior:  Played in 21 games with 21 starts at the back of the Bloomfield defense in 2011, helping the team post the best goals-against average in the CACC at 1.28...earned a first team All-CACC selection as a senior.

As a junior:  The Essex County College transfer returned from a season-ending injury in 2008 to play in 18 games with 15 starts for the 2009 squad...His rock-solid play on defense helped the Deacons to finish fourth with a 1.16 goals-against average in CACC play.

Essex County:  In both 2006 and 2007, Darnelle was named to the NJCAA All-America team, earning a third team selection in 2006, and a first team selection in 2007.

Coach Falloon on Blackman:  “It is a testament to Darnelle’s perseverance, the way he came back from a potentially career-ending injury.  He was one of our team leaders during his time here and played very well, and we wish him the best as he embarks on his future.”

Why Darnelle chose Division II:
  “I loved Bloomfield’s campus when I came to visit, and I felt at home with the players on the team. I knew this was a place where I could be successful in school and in soccer.”
