Biography

Angie Yoshizu has established herself as one of the top players in the CACC during her first two seasons at Bloomfield College.  Yoshizu has registered an incredible 121 hits over her first two seasons, the highest total by far that any player has had during their first two seasons as a Deacon during the Division II era.  In addition to her hitting prowess, Yoshizu has been a top-notch defender, adept at making both the routine and spectacular plays at shortstop.  Also a threat on the bases, Yoshizu scored 35 runs in 2012 for BC and stole eight bases without being caught.

2012:
Yoshizu followed up her 2011 Rookie of the Year season by increasing her production and earning 1st Team All-CACC honors.  Yoshizu recorded 68 hits, easily the top mark any player has had during the Division II era for BC.  Yoshizu had an incredible 22 multi-hit games in 2012, including three straight three-hit games.  Perhaps Yoshizu's biggest hit was a three-run homer she hit in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game against USP.  To that point in the game, BC had registered just 2 hits, but Yoshizu's homer led them to a six-run, game winning rally.  Yoshizu batted .393 on the season, but raised her average to .429 in conference play.

2011: Angie Yoshizu put together one of the finest rookie seasons of any first-year player BC has had during the D2 era.  After hitting .379 on 53 hits, Yoshizu became the first Deacon softball player to be named CACC Rookie of the Year.  She also was one of just 3 freshmen to receive All CACC honors when she was named to the 2nd team.  Yoshizu was 3rd in the conference in stolen bases and 9th overall in batting average, hitting at a .379 clip.  Yoshizu was one of the top hitters in the CACC in conference-only games, hitting .434.  In a doubleheader against Georgian Court, she went 7-7 and drove in the tying and winning runs in BC's 6-5 win.  She hit her 1st career homer in the CACC 2nd round playoff game against Dominican on 5/5.
