Rashawnah French

Rashawnah French returns to the Bears women's basketball sidelines as an assistant coach under Vanessa Watson in 2022-23.

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, French graduated from West Side High School in 1998 where she played Volleyball for two years along with Basketball and Softball for four years.

She received full athletic scholarship to NCAA Division I, Delaware State University for basketball. In her freshman year at Delaware State, French started 25-of-26 games and led the team in rebounding. In 2000 coach transferred to Monmouth University to continue her playing career. After red-shirting, French started all 28 games for the Hawks and led the team in rebounding while posting six double-doubles for the season.

French led the team in scoring during her senior campaign and ranked second in blocked shots and field goal percentage. She was presented the Joan Martin Award which was given to the senior student-athlete who had shown dedication to their team while staying the course in a season despite adversity. French graduated from Monmouth in 2003 with a B.S. in Mathematics. 

Her coaching experience includes the head coaching job of Irvington High School girl’s basketball team from 2012- 2018.
