Philadelphia, PA- The women's basketball team used outstanding defense to defeat CACC foe Chestnut Hill College by a score of 56-39. BC held the Griffins to 30% from the field and forced 26 turnovers in the victory. With the win the Lady Deacons push their overall record to 4-4 and are now 2-0 after the first week of conference play. Chestnut Hill falls to 2-6 overall and are now 1-1 in the CACC.
The women streaked out to a 17-4 lead within the first 10 minutes of action and Chestnut Hill was never able to recover. BC would lead by as many as 17 in the first half before Chestnut Hill tightened the score to 31-20 at the break.
In the second half the Bloomfield women held off Chestnut Hill, never allowing the Griffins to come any closer than 9 points. BC's defense ended up being too much for Chestnut Hill in period 2 as they mustered only 27% shooting from the floor.
Tiffany McDaniel had another outstanding day from the floor, sinking 11-14 shots and putting up 23 points. McDaniel also grabbed 8 rebounds in the win.
Jaleesa Coleman added 13 points of her own on 6-9 shooting.
The women get back into action this Wednesday when they take on the College of St. Rose at home in a non conference matchup with tipoff slated for 7 pm.
