Bloomfield, NJ- The women's basketball team would create 28 Warrior turnovers to lead them to a 55-46 victory over Nyack College tonight in BC Gymnasium. The win pushes the Lady Deacons CACC record to 8-3 and improves their overall record to 11-8. Nyack's loss drops their conference record to 3-8 and the Warriors are now 9-10 on the season.
The Nyack Warriors started out the first half ahead 7-6, but BC followed with a 13-0 run to lead by 8 with 9 minutes remaining in the period. The Deacons would lead by as much as 16 points in the first half, before entering the break up 29-15.
Opening the 2nd half, the Nyack Warriors cut the lead down to 9 within the first 3 minutes of play. Bloomfield would respond with a 9-1 run with a little over 12 minutes remaining. Nyack was nearly revived by Kelsy McIntosh, who dropped 4 consecutive 3 point baskets, shifting the score to 41-35 with 6:42 on the clock. The Deacons quickly regained some separation with a 5-0 run over the next minute to lead 46-35 with under 5 minutes to play.
Vanessa Lamison led the Deacons on the offensive end with 14 points on 4-7 shooting. Emily Horrocks registered 13 points while racking up 5 steals and pulling down 9 rebounds. Jaleesa Coleman also added 10 points in the win.
The Bloomfield Women return to conference play on Thursday, February 5th at Post University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm.
