Deacons top Eagles 2-1

Tageo, Raigoza lift Bloomfield to CACC victory

The Deacons were only able to get off five shots in Wednesday afternoon's match against Post University, but they made sure to make two of them count.  A pair of first half goals proved to be the difference in this pivotal CACC matchup, with the Deacons coming away with a hard-fought 2-1 road victory.

Senior forward Evans Tageo put the Deacons on the board in the 18'th minute with his fourth goal of the season, giving Bloomfield a 1-0 advantage.  Just 12 minutes later, Cristian Raigoza took a pass from Jolsten Watley and put it in the back of the net, giving the Deacons a 2-0 advantage with 60 minutes to play.

From there, the defense put the clamps down on the Eagles offensive attack, yielding nine shots but turning each aside.  Steven Alonso turned away eight shots on the day, but in the second half, Dean Robinson was able to bring the Eagles to within a goal by breaking through the Deacons defense, making the score 2-1 with just under ten minutes to play.

But the Deacons were able to withstand the onslaught in the game's final minutes, and Coach Falloon's squad closed out the waning minutes en route to a tough win against the defending CACC champions.

The team returns to action Saturday with another road match, this time squaring off against Philadelphia University.  The opening whistle is set for 2:00 PM.
