Balanced attack leads Lady Deacons past Post 77-53

Four players post double-figures as Bloomfield wins fifth straight

WATERBURY, CONN. - The women's basketball team took their CACC winning streak to five straight victories Tuesday night, as they took down the Post University Lady Eagles 77-53 in a midweek road contest.

Coach Wimberly's squad trailed only once in the win, as the Lady Deacons controlled the action at both ends of the floor.  Defensively, the suffocating press employed by Bloomfield limited the Lady Eagles to just 27% shooting from the field, and allowed BC to take a 39-34 advantage into halftime.

From there the offense took over, with four players reaching double figures in an outstanding team offensive performance.  Senior Gretchen Rodrigues dropped her highest point total of the season, notching 14 points and connecting on three of her five three-point tries.

The frontcourt was also superb in the win, with Tiffany McDaniel posting a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds.  Dre'Shonda Williams pitched in 10 points, while Emily Horrocks poured in 11 points and a team-high five assists.  The club's 51% from the floor shooting effort in the final 20 minutes of play sealed the victory, with the Lady Eagles unable to rally and allowing the Lady Deacons to pull away and move to 7-1 in CACC play.

The team returns to the hardwood Saturday with a road CACC contest against Goldey-Beacon College.  Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM.
