ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (December 17, 2011) - Bloomfield's women's basketball team fell to 3-5 overall Saturday afternoon, as they come up on the short end of a 62-58 road decision to non-conference opponent Elizabeth City State University.
Trailing 31-28 at the start of the second half, the Lady Deacons were able to eventually overtake the Vikings and grab a 58-53 with 2:19 remaining. But ECSU would weather the late-game charge, and would respon by scoring the contest's final nine points to hand Bloomfield a tough road loss to snap the club's two-game winning streak.
Sophomore forward
Lauren Deverin (Sewaren, N.J.) led Bloomfield with 11 points and 11 rebounds to notch a double-double on the afternoon, while
Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.) also netted 11 points in the setback.
Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) notched eight points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals in a solid all-around performance.
Bloomfield returns to action Sunday, December 18 when they travel non-conference opponent Chowan University. Tip-off for the contest is set for 1:00 PM.
