BOX SCORE
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (December 6, 2011) - Bloomfield's women's basketball team fell to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play Tuesday night, as they dropped a 69-65 home decision to CACC North Division rival Dominican College.
The home team came out firing in the early stages of the contest, shooting just under 53% from the field in the opening half. A 15-4 run midway through the frame gave Bloomfield a 23-12 advantage with 8:33 to play, the Lady Deacons stifling Dominican's perimeter attack and limiting the Chargers to just 33% shooting for the period. In search of their first conference victory of the young season, Bloomfield maintained their double-digit cushion heading into the intermission, leading their divisional rivals 43-32 at the break.
It would prove to be a tale of two halves for the Lady Deacons, however, as Dominican stormed back with a 16-4 spurt to open the final 20 minutes of play, stunning the home crowd and taking a slim 48-47 lead with 12:47 to play. Bloomfield would remain within striking distance for the remainder of the evening but would never regain the advantage, as the Chargers held on to escape with the comeback victory and hand the Lady Deacons their fourth loss in five contests to begin the season.
Senior guard
Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) led the offensive attack for Bloomfield in her finest outting of the season, netting a game-high 18 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and four steals to pick up a double-double in the loss.
