Deacons' streak ends at five with 86-72 loss at Post

WATERBURY, CONN (February 15, 2011) - The men's basketball team fell to 15-8 overall and 12-3 in CACC play Tuesday afternoon, as they dropped an 86-72 road decision to North Division rival Post University.  The Eagles moved to 12-10 overall and 10-4 in conference action with the win.

The high-powered Deacons offense struggled to begin the contest, the visitors shooting 28% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play.  Post was able to take advantage of the uncharacteristic start, orchestrating a 20-8 run over the first nine minutes of the night.  Bloomfield was able to cut the deficit to single digits, heading to the locker room trailing their counterparts 37-28 at the break.

The Deacons offense would rebound after a slow first half, shooting nearly 52% from the floor and just under 55% from beyond the arc.  Bloomfield would cut the Post lead to a pair of buckets at 59-54 with seven minutes to go.  But the Eagles would weather the barrage, moving the lead back to double digits with a 15-8 run that proved too much to overcome.  The Deacons were unable to mount another late-game push, with Post earning the season split with their divisional rivals.

Five Bloomfield players finished the night in double-figures, with Conroy Hosier coming off the bench to notch 14 points in reserve.  Matt Wafula aided Hosier in the frontcourt, posting 12 points, eight rebounds and a trio of blocks.  Ahmad Harris and Ryan Rodrigues tallied 11 points apiece, with Gage Daye rounding out the scoring effort with 10 points.

The Deacons return to action Thursday, February 17 with a road contest against North Division foe Caldwell College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
