Philly U. tops Lady Deacons 67-56

BOX SCORE

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (January 21, 2012) -
Bloomfield's women's basketball team fell to 8-9 overall and 6-4 in conference play Saturday afternoon, as they dropped at 67-56 road decision to CACC South Division rival Philadelphia University.

The Lady Deacons rebounded from a tough first half to erase a 35-24 halftime deficit, knotting the score at 37 with 15:04 remaining on the strength of a 13-2 run to open the second frame.  But Philadelphia would weather the spurt, outscoring Bloomfield 23-8 over the next 10 minutes to take a 60-45 lead they would not relinquish, handing the Lady Deacons a tough road loss and dropping the club to one game under .500 on the season.

Senior point guard Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.) led all scorers with a game-high 20 points in the loss, while Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, N.J.) tallied nine points off the bench in reserve.  Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) notched six points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals in the loss.

Bloomfield returns to action Tuesday, January 24 when they travel to face CACC North Division rival Felician College.  Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
