Lady Deacons roll to 81-51 victory over Nyack

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (January 3, 2012) - Senior guard Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) led a trio of double-figure scorers with 20 points Tuesday evening, as Bloomfield's women's basketball team moved to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in conference play with a 81-51 home victory over CACC rival Nyack College.

The Lady Deacons never trailed in their third conference victory of the season, opening the game with a blistering 19-4 run over the first seven minutes of action.  Bloomfield would use their trademark full-court press to stifle the Nyack attack, limiting the Warriors to just 19 points on 32% shooting from the field over the opening 20 minutes of play.  The home team would take a commanding 46-19 advantage into the intermission, shooting 42% from long range on the evening to preserve the sizable lead.  Bloomfield would cruise to the key North Division victory over the final 20 minutes, forcing Nyack into 29 turnovers to snap their three-game losing streak in decisive fashion.

Lamison added three rebounds and four steals in her banner performance, while fellow senior guard Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.) totaled 17 points three assists and two steals while connecting on three of her four three-point attempts.  Sophomore Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, N.J.) added 11 points off the bench on 3-5 shooting, while rookie center Tierra Scott (Bear, De.) added nine points, eight rebounds and four steals in a solid frontcourt performance.

Bloomfield returns to action Thursday, January 5, when they welcome non-conference opponent Dowling College for a home contest.  Tip-off for the matchup is set for 6:00 PM.
