Deacons continue hot streak, roll to 76-52 victory over USciences

BOX SCORE

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (January 7, 2012) -
Rookie guard Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) led Bloomfield with 17 points Saturday afternoon, as the men's basketball team improved to 11-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play with a 76-52 home victory over CACC South Division rival the University of the Sciences.

Winners of seven consecutive games heading into the day's action, the Deacons scored 12 of the contest's first 17 points, quickly grabbing the advantage against their conference counterparts.  Sciences would remain within striking distance throughout the opening 20 minutes of action, trailing Bloomfield 37-30 heading into the intermission.

It would prove to be the closest the Devils would come to overtaking the CACC's hottest team, as Bloomfield ripped off a 20-7 run to open the second half and put the contest out of reach.  The Deacons would cruise the rest of the way, limiting Sciences to just 33% shooting from the field over the final 20 minutes of play to secure their eighth-straight win.

Williams added five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in the victory, while sophomore forward Kevin Udo (West Orange, N.J.) continued his streak of outstanding play with 15 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.  Terry Hicks (Neptune, N.J.) contributed 13 points of his own out of the backcourt, while Mike Williams (Trenton, N.J.) notched a season-high 11 points off the bench to round out the double-figure scorers.

Bloomfield returns to action Tuesday, January 10 when they travel to CACC North Division rival Dominican College.  Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
