BOX SCORE
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (January 7, 2012) - Senior point guard
Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.) led a quartet of double-figure scorers with 14 points Saturday afternoon, as Bloomfield's women's basketball team improved to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in conference play with a 76-49 home victory over CACC South Division rival the University of the Sciences.
The Lady Deacons got off to a hot start in the early stages of the contest, opening up an 18-10 advantage to begin the game. Sciences would counter with a spurt of their own, engineering a 12-3 run to take a 22-21 lead with just under seven minutes remaining. With the score tied at 26, it would be Bloomfield who would take command as the opening half came to a close, scoring 11 of the final 17 points to take a 37-31 lead into the intermission.
It would be an advantage the Lady Deacons would not relinquish, as the home team put the tilt out of reach with a decisive 18-4 run to open the second half. Bloomfield cruised the rest of the way, shooting just under 51% from the field on the afternoon and limiting Sciences to 34% shooting while forcing 24 turnovers to pick up their third consecutive victory.
Hall added a pair of steals in the win, while senior guard
Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) totaled 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a game-high five steals in a trademark all-around effort.
Shakiyrah Bishop (Rio Grande, N.J.) continued her solid stretch of play in the backcourt, notching 11 points while shooting 3-7 from long-range.
Shaniqua Bacote (Paterson, N.J.) contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in reserve, while fellow forward
Lauren Deverin (Sewaren, N.J.) totaled eight points, nine rebounds and a pair of steals.
