Lady Deacons roll to 62-41 victory over Georgian Court

BOX SCORE

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -
Sophomore guard Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, N.J.) led a trio of double-figure scorers with a game-high 20 points Saturday afternoon, as Bloomfield's women's basketball team improved to 10-13 overall and 8-8 in conference play with a 62-41 home victory over CACC South Division rival Georgian Court University.

The Lady Deacons stormed out of the gates in the early going, ripping off a 15-4 run to start the contest and putting the visiting Lions in a significant hole to begin the afternoon.  Bloomfield would limit Georgian Court to just 25% shooting from the field in the opening half, scoring 41 points in the frame to take a 41-24 lead into the intermission.

It would prove to be more of the same in the second half, as the Lady Deacons led wire-to-wire to once again reach the .500 mark in conference play.  Georgian Court was unable to mount a second-half surge, with Bloomfield forcing 31 turnovers over 40 minutes of action to cruise to the victory.

Castro added five rebounds and four steals to her banner performance on the afternoon, while Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and a game-high five steals to move to within 24 points of reaching the 1,000 career point plateau.  Junior forward Dre'Shonda Williams (Piscataway, N.J.) finished with 12 points of her own in the victory, also notching a pair of assists.

Bloomfield returns to action Thursday, February 16 when they travel to take on CACC North Division rival Post University.  Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
