Lady Deacons top Concordia 70-61

BOX SCORE

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - Sophomore guard Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, N.J.)
led a trio of double-figure scorers with 16 points Tuesday night, as the women's basketball team improved to 12-14 overall and 10-9 in conference play with a 70-61 road victory over CACC North Division rival Concordia College in the club's regular season finale.

Having secured the fourth and final playoff spot in the North heading into this weekend's CACC Tournament, the Lady Deacons set the pace early, grabbing a quick 7-0 lead to begin the contest and setting the pace for the first 20 minutes of play.  Concordia would remain within striking distance, but Bloomfield would connect on 33% of their long-range attempts in the opening frame, maintaining the advantage and taking a 24-19 lead into the intermission.

It would prove to be more of the same in the second half, as the Lady Deacons opened up the period with a 12-4 run that would put the game out of reach for the host Clippers.  Bloomfield would push the lead to as many as 19 points over the final 20 minutes, capping their 2011-2012 regular season with a decisive victory and giving the club a two-game winning streak heading into postseason play.

Castro added one assist and one steal on the evening, while Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) netted 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a solid all-around effort.  Senior point guard Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.) rounded out the double-figure scorers, posting 14 points in the triumph.

Bloomfield will return to action Saturday, February 25, when they travel to take on CACC South Division rival Holy Family University in the opening round of the CACC Tournament.  Tip-off for the contest has not been set.
