Deacons cruise to 83-55 victory over Felician

BOX SCORE

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Senior forward Matt Wafula (Harlem, N.Y.)
led all scorers with 25 points to continue his banner senior campaign Tuesday evening, as Bloomfield's men's basketball team improved to 19-6 overall and 13-2 in conference play with a 83-55 home victory over CACC North Division rival Felician College.

Looking to avoid a season sweep at the hands of the Deacons, Felician was able to keep pace with the North Division's top team through the early stages of the opening half, trailing by just three points at 23-20 with seven minutes remaining in the period.  But the potent Bloomfield attack would see to it that would be the closest the Falcons would come to picking up the road win, as the Deacons engineered a ruthlessly efficient scorring barrage to close the half and put the game out of reach heading into the intermission.  Bloomfield would outscore the Falcons 26-5 over the final seven minutes of the frame, finishing the half shooting 64% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc to take a commanding 49-25 lead heading into the break.  The Deacons would cruise the rest of the way, rolling to their 19th victory of the season and moving to 11 games over .500 in CACC play.

Wafula added seven rebounds to his standout performance, while rookie guard Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) netted 19 points in the victory.  Sophomore guard Steve Henderson (West Orange, N.J.) finished 3-4 from long-range to total 11 points in reserve, while sophomore forward Kevin Udo (West Orange, N.J.) tallied five points, eight rebounds and a game-high four blocks.

Bloomfield returns to action Thurdsay, February 16 when they travel to take on CACC North Division rival Post University.  Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
