Deacons top Nyack 75-61 to complete season sweep

BOX SCORE

NYACK, N.Y. (January 29, 2013) -
Sophomore guard Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) led four double-figure scorers with a game-high 18 points Tuesday night, as the Bloomfield College men's basketball team completed a season sweep of their CACC North Division rivals with a 75-61 road victory over Nyack College.

Bloomfield (11-9, 9-3 CACC) controlled the action for much of the opening half, using an 8-0 run in the frame's latter stages to mount a 30-18 lead with just over three minutes remaining.  The lead would balloon to as many as 13 points over the rest of the period, with the Deacons taking a comfortable 37-26 lead into the intermission.

Nyack would not threaten in the second half, as Bloomfield would see their lead reach as high as 18 points over the final 20 minutes of play.  Junior guard Terry Hicks (Neptune, N.J.) would pace the offense with 12 points in the period, helping to ice the double-digit road victory and give the Deacons their fifth consecutive season sweep of the Warriors in the clubs' annual home-and-home slate.

Williams finished the evening 4-of-9 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line to go with a 3-of-5 performance from beyond the arc, while Hicks tallied 14 points in all after his solid second-half performance.  Sophomore guard Matt Hall (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also added 14 points in the win, leading Bloomfield with nine rebounds on the night.  Sophomore Stacey Upshaw-Goree (Lindenwold, N.J.) came off the bench to round out the double-figure scorers with 10 points in 18 minutes of action.

Bloomfield returns to action Saturday, February 2, when they welcome CACC South Division foe Philadelphia University for a late-season conference contest.  Tip-off for the matchup is scheduled for 3 p.m.
