BLOOMFIELD SUFFERS TOUGH NON-CONFERENCE LOSS ON THE ROAD

Box Score BOX SCORE

Worcester, MA - Bloomfield College suffered a tough road loss to the Greyhounds of Assumption College this afternoon, 70-80. The defeat snaps the Deacons three game winning streak and moves their overall record to 7-4.

Bloomfield lost control early as they trailed wire-to-wire watching Assumption shoot a blistering 65.6 percent from the field in the first half. The Deacons found themselves in unfamiliar territory amassing a 30 point deficit (51-21) before finishing out the period down 53-28 going into the break.

A team that takes pride in defense, Bloomfield came out of the lockeroom determined to make a game of it with a 12-2 run capped by a three-point play from sophomore Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, VA). The Deacons followed that up with a 10-3 spurt that saw them cut the lead down to single digits after a steal and layup by Wilson. That would be the closest they would come however as Assumption made clutch free-throws down the stretch to claim the 10 point victory.

Four Deacons finished the game in double-figures paced by a game high 21 points from senior Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, NJ). Wilson closed out with 10 points and 3 steals while junior Tierra Scott (Bear, DE) snatched 10 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Bloomfield will stay on the road in Massachusetts to face their next opponent Merrimack College tomorrow, December 22nd with a 1:30pm start in North Andover to close out the 2013 calendar year.
