NYACK, NY - After dropping their first CACC game of the season earlier in the week, Bloomfield College bounced back with a 76-50 victory over the Warriors of Nyack College to improve to 6-1 in conference play. Sophomore guard,
Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, VA) poured in 15 points off the bench to lead the Deacons in an impressive showing.
Bloomfield found themselves down 4-0 at the onset of the game when Wilson checked in and made an immediate impact, scoring a 3-pt jumper to cut the early deficit. The Deacons would then go on a 16-3 run to distance themselves from Nyack, never to relinquish the lead again during the contest. The opening half came to a conclusion with an offensive rebound and jump shot by Wilson which sent Bloomfield to the lockeroom up 33-23 at the break.
The second half opened up with another Deacon 3-pointer, this time by freshman guard,
Tianna Smith (Nanuet, NY). Bloomfield's stifling defense produced 10 turnovers in the second stanza and the next time Smith buried a 3-pt shot, the Warriors found themselves trailing by 30 (72-42) with a little over three minutes remaining. Senior guard
Iliriana Lulgjuraj (Bloomfield, NJ) came in off the bench to contribute 9 points, all in the 2nd half including going 5-5 from the freethrow line.
On the Bloomfield side, Smith finished with 13 points in 26 minutes of action while Wilson grabbed 7 rebounds to go along with her 15 points. Junior center
Tierra Scott ( Bear, DE) rounded out the Deacons double-digit scorers with 12 points and senior forward
Nakaida Thomas (Trenton, NJ) snatched 8 rebounds. For the Warriors, Jamie McKeither (Laurel, MD) led all scorers with 18 points and contributed 8 rebounds, complimented by her teammate, Audrey Matteson's (Monticello, IN) 12 points.
Next up Bloomfield College (8-6, 6-1) will roll out the welcome mat to CACC North Division rival Dominican College on Tuesday, January 14th at 6:00PM.
