BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Bloomfield College fell in CACC action tonight as the Lady Chargers forced overtime and deafeted the Deacons 72-67. Bloomfield (8-7, 6-2) suffers their second conference loss of the season at home while Dominican College (4-10, 2-5) snaps a six game losing streak picking up their first win on the road.
The Deacons took control early, building an eight point lead (18-10) in the first half off of a 3-pointer by sophomore guard
Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, VA). Dominican would charge right back with a 13-4 run to take the lead (23-22) with 7:21 to play in the opening period. The teams would trade buckets back and forth until the halftime buzzer sounded and the teams were knotted at 35. Senior
Nakaida Thomas (Trenton, NJ) had 8 points and 8 rebounds at the half for Bloomfield College. Senior KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) led all scorers at the break with 10 points for the Chargers.
In the second half both teams battled with Dominican able to move out to a five point lead (45-40) but the Deacons pulled even at 60 by the end of the frame and a last second jumper by Jentzen was no good and the two CACC North Divisions teams went into overtime to decide the contest.
For the second time in less than a week Bloomfield found themselves going into overtime before their home crowd, both games ending in the same result as Jentzen hit two freethrows to seal the contest out of reach and hand the Deacons a second CACC defeat.
Wilson and Thomas finished the game with double-doubles, Ariel putting up 15 points and 10 rebounds, Thomas grabbing a game high 16 rebounds to go along with 15 points. Jentzen had a double-double of her own posting a game high 34 points alongside 10 rebounds. Bloomfield shot just 29.0% from the field for the game while the Chargers 44.0% of their shots.
Bloomfield will travel down the Turnpike to face Wilmington on Saturday, January 18th. Scheduled tipoff is set for 1:00 PM.
