NEWARK, DE - Bloomfield College Women's Basketball used a 44-20 second half to get past CACC South Division foe, Wilmington University, 72-43.
The Deacons improve to 9-7 on the season and 7-2 in CACC action while the Wildcats fall to 5-11 overall with a 2-7 CACC record.
Freshman guard
Morgan Taylor (Paterson, NJ) had a career and game high 15 points to pace Bloomfield in the victory going 4-5 from 3-pt territory. Junior center
Tierra Scott (Bear, DE) had a solid performance notching 14 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field to go along with 5 blocked shots. Freshman
Tianna Smith (Nanuet, NY) rounded out the Deacons double-digit scorers with 10 points and added a career high 8 assists.
The first half started out slow for both teams with points coming at a premium when after eight minutes into the contest each team had scored 5 points. Senior forward
Nakaida Thomas (Trenton, NJ) would break the tie with a layup followed by a Taylor 3-pointer and the Deacons would never look back taking a 28-23 lead over Wilmington to the break at half.
Coach Caputo gave a spirited lockeroom talk and the Deacons came out ready to run wild, reeling off a 18-2 spurt to begin the 2nd stanza in Wildcat Country. All nine Bloomfield players that stepped onto the court in the 2nd half scored and the Deacons never allowed Wilmington an opportunity to get back into the game, shooting 56.0% from the field and 67.0% from 3-point land, eventually taking the 72-43 victory.
Bloomfield will next see action on Wednesday, January 22nd when they welcome the Warriors of Nyack College to the Deacons Den for a 6:00 PM tip-off.
