CASTRO LEADS BLOOMFIELD PAST NYACK 75-36 IN CACC ACTION

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Senior guard Ivettlis Castro had a game high 21 points powering Bloomfield past the Warriors of Nyack College 75-36 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Action at the Deacons Den. The win gave the Deacons sole possession of 1st place in the CACC North Division(8-2) and a 10-7 record overall while the loss dropped Nyack to 3-7 (CACC) and 4-13 overall. 

Castro (Carteret, NJ) came off the bench for Bloomfield to go 7-for-9 from the field including 5-for-6 from beyond the arc as the Deacons never trailed in the contest. Bloomfield's defense held the Warriors to just 18 first half points on 26.0% shooting from the field. Junior center Tierra Scott (Bear, DE) had 10 points in the opening stanza and the Deacons were well in control 34-18 heading into the break.

The 2nd half saw more defensive prowess from the Deacons with Nyack posting another 18 points in the period but on 22.0% shooting from the field while Bloomfield's offense caught a spark putting together a 48.0% effort from the field including a blistering 63.0% from 3-pt range. Freshman guard Morgan Taylor (Paterson, NJ) scored all of her 9 points in the 2nd frame connecting on 3 buckets from beyond the arc and Castro poured in 12 of her game high points leading the Deacons on the offensive side of the ball in the win.

Scott finished the game with 15 points and 9 rebounds for Bloomfield and Castro added 2 rebounds and a steal to her game high 21 points. Sophomore forward Iman Williams (Chesapeake, VA) came off the bench to snatch a game high 10 boards as the Deacons out rebounded Nyack 54-29. 

Bloomfield's next challege comes when they travel to the city of Brotherly Love to take on the Rams of Philly U on Saturday, January 25th at 2:00 PM in the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center (located on the corner of School House Lane and Henry Avenue).
