DEACONS SUFFER FIRST CACC LOSS IN OT AGAINST FELICIAN

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Bloomfield College Women's Basketball suffered their first conference loss of the season against North Division rival, Felician College, 68-64 in overtime at the Deacons Den. The loss dropped the Deacons to 7-6 overall and 5-1 in CACC action while Felician College improved to 4-9 overall with a 2-4 record in conference play.

The game started off slow for both teams with turnovers and missed shots on both ends of the floor. Bloomfield got on the board first with a made free-throw by junior center Tierra Scott (Bear, DE) at the 17:35 minute mark and the Deacons built an early 6-0 lead. Ashley Morris (West Orange, NJ) found Felician's first bucket with a little over five minutes played in the opening stanza. Bloomfield's offense couldn't find its' groove and the Golden Falcons took advantage pulling to within two (25-27) with just over three minutes to go in the opening period. The Deacons seemingly shook off the Holiday break rust to reel off 9 straight points and closed out the half up 25-36. 

In the 2nd half Bloomfield leaned on Scott as she poured in 10 points during to help the Deacons keep Felician at bay for most of the period, however down the stretch Morris and the Golden Falcons would not be denied, finally completing the comeback to claim their first lead of the game (51-50) on a layup by the standout forward. Morris scored Felician's final 7 points of the half and after Scott made one out of two freethrows, the scoreboard read 56 all at the end of regulation. The Deacons shot just 23% from the field in the second half and only 50% from the freethrow line in the period.

In overtime Bloomfield seized early control on a layup by senior forward Nakaida Thomas (Trenton, NJ) that put them ahead 56-60 but that lead would be short lived with the Golden Falcon's Trina Plummer (West Babylon, NY) converting 4 freethrows to knot the score up with 3:35 to go in the extra period. Felician took control on a made 3-pt jumber by Jac'Quel Saunders (Trenton, NJ) en route to 68-64 final decision. 

Scott played a tremendous double-double game for the Deacons, scoring 17 points and grabbing a game high 16 rebounds while Thomas contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman guard Morgan Taylor (Paterson, NJ) added 11 points and 8 rebounds off the bench for Bloomfield. Morris finished with up a game high 21 points followed by Plummer with 20 points for the Golden Falcons. Saunders rounded out the double-digit scorers for Felician with 11 points.
