BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Deacons picked up a big 72-66 win over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division rival Holy Family on Saturday afternoon. Bloomfield was able to out rebound their oppenents 55-33 during the game and eventually tame the Tigers in the contest. Junior guard
Marvin Williams (Jersey City, NJ) netted a game high 20 points for the Deacons in the victory while Ervin Ezell led Holy Family's offensive output with 19 points.
The hotly contested opening period saw the Tigers leap out on Bloomfield to gain a 21-11 advantage half way thru the frame. The Deacons proved to be up to the challenge battling back with a 13-2 run capped by a Williams 3-pointer and regained the lead 24-23 at the 4:12 minute mark. Senior forward
Kevin Udo (West Orange, NJ) grabbed 12 of his game-high 14 rebounds in the first half and Bloomfield went to the lockeroom with a 32-29 advantage on the scoreboard. Williams and Udo combined for half of the Deacons points in the period, each equally contributing with 8 points. Ezell led all scorers at the midway point with 10 points but his team had been out-rebounded 28-13 in the opening frame.
In the second half Bloomfield would see sophomore guard
Clarence White (Bronx, NY) come off the bench to score all of his 10 points complimenting Williams' 12 points in the period and the Deacons never looked back taking the 72-66 victory in front of their home crowd. Bloomfield never trailed in the half and shot 79.0% from the free-throw line to cement the win.

Mike Williams (Trenton, Nj) finished the game with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the Deacons while junior guard
Matt Hall (Brooklyn, NY) came off the bench to pour in 10 points and 7 rebounds. All-in-all it was a great team effort for Bloomfield with White and
Marvin Williams rounding out the double-digit scorers for the afternoon.
The victory gives the Deacons some breathing room atop the CACC North Division at 11-2 (13-7 overall) while dropping the Tigers to 9-4 in the CACC South Division (14-7 overall).
Bloomfield will be on the road in their next contest, traveling down the Turnpike to face the Lightning of Goldey Beacom College in the Joseph West Jones Center (4701 Limestone Rd - Wilmington, DE 19808) on Saturday February 8th at 3:00 PM.
