WATERBURY, CT - The Bloomfield College women's basketball team went on the road and defeated Post University 88-49 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action this evening. The Deacons pick up their 6th consecutive CACC victory by dropping the Eagles to 9-8 in conference play, 9-14 overall while improving themselves to 16-8 on the season with a North Division leading 14-3 record. Bloomfield's offense was powered by 4 players off the bench scoring in double-figures led by senior Ivettlis Castro (Carteret, NJ) who poured in a team-high 16 points.

Before gameplay began, Post recognized the Deacons four seniors as the Eagles celebrated 'Senior Night' honoring their own Raven Wright-James (Middletown, CT) and Aubrey Latham (Mystic, CT) for their contributons to the women's basketball program. Latham, Post's All-Time leading women's basketball player, began the night with 1,681 and added a game-high 23 points to that total by the end of the contest. Bloomfield began the first half spotting the Eagles an early 7-0 lead on the honorary night. The Deacons quickly answered, reeling off 13 straight points and would never trail again in the contest taking a 43-32 advantage into the locker room.

The second half belonged to Bloomfield as the nationally ranked defense of the Deaons held Post to 26.0% shooting from the field while out-rebounding the Eagles 23-7 in the period with 17 caroms coming on the defensive boards limiting any second-chance opportunities for their opponents. Castro netted 11 of her 16 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the field. The Deacons shot 50.0% (5-10) from beyond the arc in the 2nd stanza en-route to a 45-17 point margin in the period.

Senior Iliriana Lulgjuraj (Bloomfield, NJ) and sophomore Ariel Wilson (Chesapeake, VA) both scored 11 points for Bloomfield's offensive efforts while junior Lauren Deverin (Sewaren, NJ) and sophomore Iman Williams (Chesapeake, VA) notched 10 points apiece for the Deacons. For the game, Bloomfield held a 50-26 rebounding edge and held the Eagles to a season-low 49 points.

Next up the Deacons 'Play for Kay' returning home to host their CACC rival USP Devils at 1:00 PM in the Deacons Den. With a win over USP the Deacons can clinch the CACC North Division regular season title outright for the 1st time in program history since becoming NCAA Division II certified in 2002.  Bloomfield invites everyone to come out to help support in the fight against Breast Cancer and help raise awareness.
