UDO POWERS DEACONS OVER DEVILS 68-51 IN CACC BATTLE

Box Score

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Senior Kevin Udo (West Orange, NJ) came off the bench to dominate for the Deacons, scoring 20 points to go along with 15 rebounds to hand the visiting University of the Sciences a 68-51 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle this afternoon in the Den. The Deacons sit alone atop the CACC North Division improving to 16-2 in conference play (18-7 overall) while the Devils fall to 11-7 in CACC action and 15-10 overall.
Bloomfield records their 7th consecutive victory, all by way of conference opponents and eye up their 7th consecutive CACC tournament birth.

This first half of this conference battle started out close with both teams finding themselves deadlocked at 13 all with 10:21 on the clock. They would trade buckets back and forth to the tune of a 20-20 tie with 6:21 remaining in the stanza and then again at 29 apiece with just 3:29 showing on the ticker. The Deacons would hold a slim 36-35 advantage heading to the locker room and a clear objective to slow down the Devils CACC 'Player of the Week' Garret Kerr (Moorestown, NJ) who had already amassed his 21st double-double of the season netting 16 points and 10 rebounds in the first half alone. Bloomfield chose scoring by commitee in the opening stanza with Udo alongside sophomore Clarence White (Bronx, NY) and senior Stevie Henderson each having 6 points in the period.

The second half belonged to the Deacons as a steady dose inside the paint to Udo complimented by drives to the basket by junior Matt Hall (Brooklyn, NY) yeilded heavy dividends for Bloomfield, holding the Devils to a season-low 16 points in the period. Kerr was unable to convert a bucket in the half, adding just 2 points from the freethrow line to his total for the night (18) while on the other side of the ball Udo and Hall netted 14 and 10 points respectively to their final outputs on the evening.  Bloomfield out-rebounded the Devils 18-9 in the half, limiting second-chance opportunies and holding the University of the Sciences to 28.1% shooting from-the-field in the stanza.

Udo lead all scorers and rebounders with his performance, with Kerr leading the Devils side with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Hall finished up the contest with 14 points as his drives to the basket coupled with Udo's strong play down low became transparent in Bloomfield's 44-22 advantage in points in the paint. The Deacons scored 9 points off of turnovers to the Devils' 6.

The win was made even more special with Bloomfield College Athletics designating the game as "Today We Play For 'A' Game". Avery Thompson was a member of the Bloomfield College Athletics family who recently lost his battle with cancer. All of the proceeds from both of this afternoon's games will be donated to the Talbert Family Foundation in Avery's name.
